Following the release of his debut album 'Time' earlier this year, Canada based Kiwi Matt Hoyles is back for a few select tour dates. With his unique brand of one-man band soul blues, gritty guitar, wailing harmonica, mad foot percussion and wickedly expressive vocals combine to create a rootsy sound that will get you stomping your feet and clapping your hands like there’s no tomorrow!
Co-headlining is NZ's electro-soul darling Geoff Ong, whose latest singles 'Fingerprints' and 'Don't Know You No More' have both reached top 5 status in the new singles chart.
Geoff and Matt will be joined by Wellington's own Nikita 雅涵 Tu-Bryant, opening the evening with her own beautiful take on soulful indie folk. Nikita draws from a diverse range of influences in order to create a sound that is truly her own.
Brazza are about groovy Brazilian music. With drum kit and electric bass driving the ensemble, you're going to want to bring your dancing shoes! This is Brazilian jazz on fire, BRAZZA! $5 door entry.
Motte is performing in the Orcon Live Room this week with huge thanks to NZ On Air Music. Motte is performing in the live room this week, ahead of her show with All Seeing Hand, Earth Tongue and Bizznet at Meow this Friday. She creates ambient, soundscape-esque music using a looped violin and dreamy vocals.
Ans Westra is exhibiting at Bowen Galleries in Ghuznee Street.
Her show is called For The Love of Trees and she says "a tree is a living and breathing being. Some of our largest might have taken several lifetimes to grow. And yet it takes modern technology just such a short time to destroy what nature grew. We can’t repair the damage we caused in so many ways, but let’s cherish what remains."
Her exhibition runs at Bowen Galleries until 22nd December, and when the gallery reopens the exhibition will resume and run from 15th January until the 22nd January.
