The Wellington Pride Parade will ignite the capital on Saturday May 11th – and everyone’s welcome.
Now in its third year, the theme for the 2019 parade is FIRE; ignite your passion for your community | AHI; hei whakaatu i to hiahia mo to hapori.
Starting on Tennyson Street, the parade will make its way through Wellington’s Courtenay Place, turn into Taranaki Street and conclude at the waterfront adjacent Mac’s Brewery.
Spectators can line the streets and join in the celebrations with the parade participants, consisting of a diverse range of floats and walking groups.
Radio Active.FM are proud supporters of WIPP. We’ll be set up and providing the soundtrack to the start of the parade on Tennyson Street. Come say hi!

2019 PARADE RESCHEDULED:
It may be the world’s worst kept secret, but we can now confirm the Wellington International Pride Parade will now be held on Saturday, 11 May. The time of day will be brought forward to the afternoon to accommodate for the shorter daylight hours, with the parade kicking off at 3pm.
The parade route will remain the same, from Courtenay Place, turning into Taranaki Street to the waterfront. Some of the pre-parade entertainment will move to a new time and location and we will update you on that later.
We understand there may be groups that hadn’t previously registered that may now want to do so, so we are reopening registrations and our website will be updated soon for you to submit these.
Any group that has previously registered for 16 March will have their entry automatically carried over to 11 May. If, for some reason your group is no longer able to march in May, please email us at email@example.com.
While a bit of rain won’t stop us going ahead on 11 May, if bad weather means we can’t proceed on 11 May, we have a rain day scheduled for Sunday, 12 May.
