Episode 4: Golden Lion Tamarin

Ox is back for this week’s talk on the wild side! We’re learning more about the Golden Lion Tamarin, an endangered species which is supported by Wellington Zoo.

An endangered species native to Brazil’s Atlantic coastal forest, fewer than 200 Golden Lion Tamarins remained in the early 1970s. Thanks to zoos and other conservation organisations, there are now approximately 2,500 living in the wild.

Wellington Zoo is proud to support the work of Associação Mico-Leão-Dourado (The Golden Lion Tamarin Association) – both financially and by contributing to the breeding programme – in protecting the future of Golden Lion Tamarins in their natural habitat.
