Poet Simone Kaho joins Caffeine & Aspirin to talk about her new work!

It’s a transfrormative book, about a survivor’s journey healing from sexual assault and other forms of trauma. It’s harrowing at times but is an honest, at times quite raw, but overall a hopeful book that is a reflection of her journey into healing herself. The poetry is beautifully written, and she has a way with words that is surprising. There are moments of extreme gentleness that are counterpoised by the harsh realities of being a brown woman who is experiencing multiple points of intersecting trauma. Ultimately, the book is an ode to a survivor’s desire to rise out of the depths and to meet herself – flawed, human, alive.
