SEVEN DAVIS JR.
Born in Texas, and currently a resident of Los Angeles, Seven Davis Jr. delivers a brand of futuristic electronic soul that calls upon the influence of Detroit pioneers Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins as much as it does pop extroverts Prince and Stevie Wonder. Following an upbringing in Northern California, where soul and disco classics were part of a young Seven’s diet, he delved deeper into more experimental music, and in 2012 debuted internationally on Kutmah’s Worldwide Family Vol. 2 (Brownswood Recordings) with the track ‘Thanks’. Since then, other releases have included the ‘One’ EP for Must Have Records, and ‘P.A.R.T.Y.’ EP for Funkineven’s Apron Records, before striking a deal with legendary UK imprint Ninja Tune, resulting in his highly acclaimed debut LP, Universes. Besides this, Seven’s vocals have been in huge demand, and he’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in electronic music, including Hot Chip, Julio Bashmore, Four Tet, Jesse Rose, and Doc Daneeka. Currently recording his follow-up to Universes, Seven’s a superstar of the future just waiting to happen.
ÜGLY DISCO – Combining the considerable talents of Johnny Latenight and LRD JXN, Ügly Disco use live bass and sampled FXto make house music that isn’t boring, and is completely improvised in the moment.
CAVE CIRCLES – The newest project of one of New Zealand’s most eclectic talents, Riki Gooch, Cave Circles delivers abstracted groove music, that of course maintains the quality of all of his work. We’re excited to have him play his first Strange Behaviour show.
FLAVA DJs hold down the show of the same name every Friday onRadioactive.fm, delivering great music that isn’t held back by genre limitations, yet remains accessible and perfect for dancing.
