This month we sadly lost Georgina Beyer, listen back to her 2018 chat with Maggie on The Breakfast Show as we celebrate her trailblazing life and career.

Georgina Beyer speaks to Maggie about being invited to address the Oxford Union and reveals deeply personal parts of her life.

Her diagnosis of chronic kidney failure and the donated kidney from Carterton man. Her proudest moments of advocacy and where her steadfast determination to succeed against all odds, came from.

The political trailblazer was elected mayor of Carterton in 1995, the first transgender woman in the world to hold mayoral office. In 1999 she achieved another world first when she became a member of Parliament (for Wairarapa).
