Welcomer are a 5-piece indie rock group from Pōneke with a penchant for wry pop songs that emphasise sharp lyrics and warm melody. Fronted by songwriter Miles Sutton, the band riff on humour and heartache in equal measure. In a live setting the band experiments with conventional rock layouts, placing digital textures against acoustic guitars and found sounds against vocal harmonies. The result is a warm, folk-indebted indie rock that sits somewhere between Wilco and label-mates Carb on Carb. This week Bainca chats to Miles about their upcoming album, performances perspectives & more ahead of their upcoming performance at Performance Arcade this Saturday.
