“Vividwater” is the new book by local writer Jacqueline Owens.

Inspired by her love of dystopian-speculative-fiction and changes in Te-Whanganui-a-Tara over the past few years, the thought-provoking and page-turning novel paints a disturbing view of the future, where decades of drought has changed the country and the people who live there.

But even in a society dominated by ruthlessness and thirst, there is still hope and glimmers of innocence.
